12 Color Reflective Embroidery Thread Set - 2400m - High Visibility for Sewing & Craft

This is a beautiful set of reflective embroidery thread, and is high quality with very little breakage. I hadn't ever used reflective thread before, and wasn't sure what to expect. The threads are beautiful colors, and for all intents and purposed look like regular high quality embroidery thread. When you shine a light on them in dimmer environments, they really are very reflective. I plan on using them to embellish my son's biking and running gear for safety when he is out later in the evening. They also will look great on Halloween costumes, and really any time you need an item to be highly reflective.

Overall, these embroidery threads earn 5 out of 5 stars, although it is a bit pricey for the amount of thread that you get (300m each spool).

I have been sewing for almost 60 years and am thrilled to find something new for my studio. I have used reflective decorative tape in the past but have never tried reflective thread. Cant wait to see the looks on my granddaughter's faces when I sew them something with this amazing reflective thread. I'm planning on overstitching floral accents on floral fabric. This should look subtle in normal light but magical in reflective light. Might even embroider a secret message!

I've been embroidering for 15 or so years now, and this thread was a bit of a learning curve. ANY specialty thread is going to be a learning curve. Period. After playing around for the first 20 minutes of embroidery, this is what I learned:
Use a #12 needle, nothing smaller.
Loosen your tension slightly.
Slow your machine speed to somewhere between 400-450 rpm.
Monitor your thread to make sure it's spooling evenly and not catching on anything.
*I have a compact industrial embroidery machine, so take these tips with that in mind.
**this purchased file is 24,500 stitches and took nearly 2 hours under these conditions

The finished effect is pretty amazing, though not exactly what is pictured in the product description (image 4 of embroidered design). To be fair, this design isn't a solid fill. Slowing down the machine did not eliminate thread breaks, but it did drastically reduce them. The description also states the spools are 300M, but the individual spools read 200M. I'm not going to unwind the spool to verify the length, but I can track it based on how much thread my design software says the file uses. The current sale price plus added coupon brings these down to $3.56/spool, which is a decent price, for specialty thread in particular. I look forward to the possibilities this brings to future projects.

This is a strong thread with a reflective silver strand.
It will work nicely for embroidery patches where you want some reflexion or for simple straight or zigzag seams on items where a little reflexion would be nice, such as jogging, biking, hunting or camping clothing or bags.

There are enough colors to choose from that it will suit many purposes.
